Hanna's Story
One of the most meaningful and heartfelt traditions in our family is sharing a meal together. I believe this is one of life’s extraordinary pleasures. My mother still prides herself on preparing her exceptional and traditional recipes to serve as the perfect ending to any day. My love for food and hospitality is a passion deeply rooted in my family tree dating back to World War I.
The Hanna family affair with culinary endeavors began with my Grandfather, who satisfied his love for food and community by serving as a cook in the army. After the army, he started cooking for White Castle, the first hamburger chain established in 1921. He decided to expand his culinary love by opening up his own restaurant in Western Pennsylvania located off Route 40, called The Lone Star. The Lone Star was the first of many, as the Hanna family moved to Southern California in the 1950’s, establishing a few more restaurants on the West Coast.
I decided to follow my Grandpa Hanna’s footsteps by opening the first coffee shop in RSM, Haute Café. I was honored by the support the town gave me, so I opened a second Haute Café next to Edwards Cinema and eventually sold both in 1997. After taking a few years to recharge, I decided to take another stab at the hospitality industry and opened Hanna’s Restaurant and Bar in November of 2005.
I strive to serve the finest foods available and provide memorable service. The uniqueness of Hanna’s is that I’m serving my own neighbors. I’ve been a local resident of Rancho Santa Margarita since 1990 and I look forward to serving you and greeting you personally. The pursuit of excellence and attention to the smallest details is my focus. I believe in using the freshest ingredients and finest products available, striving for excellence in all methods of preparing food, from cleanliness to food presentation.
As a testimony of my efforts and dedicated staff, Hanna’s was voted in 2006 as one of the three Best New Restaurants in Orange County and also 2007 Best Restaurant and Chef in Rancho Santa Margarita by the Orange County Register readers.
